Republican Congressman Paul Broun has announced plans to reintroduce an amendment to the US Constitution to bar same-sex marriage. Broun (R-Ga) said the California Supreme Court ruling recognizing same-sex marriage has made it an imperative to reign in what he called "activist judges".

What business is it that a congressman from Georgia is conserned about what the people in California do....
I thought Republicans are all for STATES RIGHTS.. yet they are always the ones that want to amend the federal constitution....

I agree. Marriage rights in general are left to the states vis a vis the 9th and 10th Amendments to the Constitution. While on the subject, if gay marriages are not protected and using Will's logic, no marriages are protected, then the government should not give married couples the option of filing jointly and thereby decreasing their tax burden.

  I just DON'T SEE the word MARRIAGE in the constitution or any of the bill of rights or amendments....
  no matter HOW one defines marriage.....
  my thoughts as a hetrosexual married male....
  I thank gays should have the same right to be miserable as the rest of us... sarcasm.. off

    You'll never find someone able to explain it Will. Never. I argued with my own mother on this and I even got her to admit that a theological perspective can exist that completely accept same sex marriage and no legal argument truly exists for not validating same sex marriage! Of course she is rather liberal in many respects... her job demands it.

        Yup. Perfectly true. I believe, that at the end of the day, the socially conservative philosophy will usurped by the Libertarian one. To "conserve" the power of the people rather then the status quo. That is my hope at least... sometimes I wonder though.

What is the problem? If a Woman Abortionist want's to Kill her Baby it is her choice it's the Law. It may Not be Humane, but, it's legal. Likewise, if a HoMosexual man or a HoMosexual woman wants to Marry a same sex gender it is their respective Choice.
HoMOsexuals should and Must have the same rights as all americans.
