Lesbian kiss falls flatter than a pancake »
Posted By _kam0_ 1 year, 6 months ago in StyleJust one kiss. That's all it took - to get thrown out of the IHOP in Grandview. Two young women sharing a kiss didn't seem inappropriate to the other couple in the restaurant booth that night, Jackie Smith and the woman with whom she shares her life, Toni Smith. But someone watching the scene was offended.

A thousand thanks for sharing this article. Rest assured I will not be eating at IHOP any time soon. The again, where I live, we do not have an IHOP for about 200 miles. I am also not a fan of their powdered eggs. That's right, their scrambled eggs are powdered...no worries about shell fragments. Good luck ladies, and keep up the good fight!

My only problem with this article is that we only go to hear the girls point of view. I understand that the restaurant did a no comment, but the unfortunate truth of PR is that it is better to NC and take a small hit for a couple of days, than to give someone who is on a crusade a quote that they can twist and use to keep the news story alive for weeks.

From what I read, though the reporter got no response, IHOP corporate wrote an apologetic letter to the individuals in the incident. So, I don't think what this location did is necessarily company policy. Maybe the company needs to come up with some mandatory "sensitivity training".
Unless I hear official bigotry coming from corporate, I'd probably avoid the Grandview MO location, not IHOP as a whole.
It really is a problem for chains that behavior at one location reflects on all, especialy now that people see news from all over the world instantly, where 20 years ago, I doubt I'd ever hear this happened at an IHOP in Missouri, when I'm in another state.

The gays are here; as I see it we can either get use to it or Kill them all, which may include someone you know and love, cause from the looks of things if they are gay and in your family they are not telling you. And then what, Which group will you go after next the blacks, the Mexicans, maybe the Asians? This is about your hate, I think this is a sin. God made each and everyone of us in his own image and likeness, how would you feel if when you get to heaven this is what keeps you out.
I can't see any form of love, and understanding, keeping anyone out of heaven can you?

This is just stupid...people need to get over this already. Being black I understand this degree of ignorance, it amazes me that we think of ourselves as being superior and more civilized but yet we act like cavemen on certain issues. So they are gay, and they kiss, guess what if your kid is gay they are gay there is no changing that...I am not gay so I know watching two Gay people kiss will not make me gay, I also know it will not make my kids gay either. So stupid, stop worrying just like black it doesn't rub off on ya.

Blackacereturn, you said,
"guess what if your kid is gay they are gay there is no changing that"
Please, climb into the 21st century.
It has already been proven that "NO ONE IS BORN GAY"!
Homosexuality is complex, Yes, but it is a learned behavior and the result of many psychological factors.
It is also a "CHOICE" made by those who do it.
Comparing it to "color" is bogus. Black and White do NOT rub off, big deal.
But, "bad morals DO rub off" - get it straight!

GOOD for IHOP - I will go out of my way to give them more business now.
As a parent, trying to instill good morals in my children, I want to be able to eat a meal and NOT have to worry about the examples my children see.
Children's minds are very impressionable, and at a young age are unable to distinguish good from bad much of the time, but just take in everything as "normal", even when it is not!
And, let's be CLEAR, and not naive, things like this do not stop with a "kiss" - that is the START - next comes more kissing, then hugging, then public groping and God only knows what else! People with loose morals "Test the Boundaries" all the time. If you don't know that, you must have been staying home all your life.
As for me and my kids, IHOP here we come!

This poster says it all in one sentence; did you get it?
"Good luck ladies, and keep up the good fight!"
The message IS - keep up the immoral displays in Public and keep "shoving it in the face of America"!
btw, where do you get two ladies, David, when one is taking the role of a "MAN" and demonstrating it for all to see?

It's not immoral for two people who love each other to share a quick kiss. You only THINK it's immoral because the two people in question happen to be of the same gender.
" btw, where do you get two ladies, David, when one is taking the role of a "MAN" and demonstrating it for all to see?"
LOL. . . you obviously don't know very many gay couples, do you? Despite what you may have seen on TV, not all gay couples consist of one person taking on the role of traditional "man" and traditional "woman". Can't you accept the possibility that these are just two women who love each other? They can be in love without one of them becoming the "man".

Veritatis - Have you ever kiss your man/lady in public? What if a gay person was to call that IMMORAL? All you are is afraid of what you don't know, this is how they controle us...why don't you take the time and learn for yourself.
Take it from me, I had to learn to understand, I now have a very good friend that happens to be gay.

I really don't kiss my uncles, so in my case it wouldn't be much of a kiss!

Froggy - You do know this is just your experience and assumption, and it's not necessary the norm. I kiss my wife in public and it always is about my love for her and to hell with what others thing. I have seen older couples do the same and it's about the love they have inside. Have you ever witness new love its sickening and cute at the same time...they can't seem to keep their hands off each other.
And since it's safe to say none of us were there it could have very well been just a kiss between two lovers.

And if you were sucking face across the table the straight couple WOULD be asked to leave or knock it off. So YOU get it straight!!!
A casual peck is one thing....and generally a nice romantic peck in public is acceptable. I don't care if you are gay, straight or do it with animals...just do it in the privacy of your home.
